Christmas is around the corner and decorations are going up! But in Mexico decorations are a little bit different than in the United States. In the U.S. Christmas is all about Santa Claus, about taking pictures with him and what will you ask Santa Claus for Christmas…..well, in Mexico, you hardly see him or hear of him! Here, the majority of the people are Catholic, so religion plays a very significant role. Instead of Santa Claus, you say “los tres reyes magos” or the three kings. Along with the kings, the “nacimiento” in other words, the display of Jesus birth is very significant. Today we got to go to the center of the city of Guadalajara to witness the lighting of the Christmas decorations. These pictures will give you an idea as to how beautiful it all looked and how different it is…
